The lake, which has a level path spanning approximately one mile around, is ideal for walking the dog, leisurely strolls or jogging with friends.

For nature lovers Westport Lake is the perfect haven as hundreds of birds and ducks flock here throughout the year including visitors from Iceland and Northern Europe.

Situated adjacent to the children’s play area is Westport Lake Visitor Centre, one of the offices of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust – the county’s leading nature conservation charity.

This centre boasts a welcoming cafe which in itself is a perfect spot to relax taking in panoramic views of the water whilst sitting inside or on the lakeside balcony outside.

The cafe offers hot and cold drinks and snacks and is open from 10am-4pm daily.

Families are encouraged to visit the centre which also offers a range of activities during school holidays.

Thanks Baba ,
We enjoy West port a lot !

Westport Lake, created alongside the Trent & Mersey Canal, is Stoke-on-Trent’s largest expanse of water and consists of two lakes, and a nature reserve.  It’s one of the best places in the area for bird-watching and walking.  It has come a long way since its initial development as a pleasure resort by a local farmer around 1890 then it descended into a wasteland until becoming one of Stoke's first regeneration projects in 1986.  It is now run in partnership between Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and Stoke City Council.
